A ‘video assignment’ is a question type in which users can immediately practice what they’ve learned. This type is mainly used for self-reflection. For example, in a course on how to give a good elevator pitch, the user can practice with their own pitch by means of a video assignment.
If you want to add a video assignment, first create a new item. Click on the plus sign and select “video assignment.” Enter a title and below the title a video. This video gives further explanation to the assignment. The next step is to give feedback for the video assignment in the box below, which can be done in text or in video format. To give you a good idea of what the video assignment looks like, click on “Options” at the top left, and then on “Preview topic as a user.”
When viewing the video assignment you have just created, you will first see the video in which the assignment is given. The user can then carry out the assignment by recording themselves via a webcam. The user can also choose to upload the video from his or her computer. It is possible to skip this command when taking the course. A notification appears on the screen when the user skips it.
If the user selects the webcam, a countdown will commence and the recording will start. The recording will stop when the user clicks on the screen. After recording, the user can save, review or re-record the recording. If the recording is saved, it will be uploaded immediately. Next, the user receives feedback and they can evaluate their video. The video can also be shared with others at any time so that it can be reviewed by others as well.
Note: a video assignment is different from adding a video in a course. If you want to add a video you need the type “Explanation”.
