Introduction author tool

You can create your own online course with the author tool. To do this, log in to your Academy. Go to the LMS via your initials in the top right corner and click on ‘Online Courses’ in the LMS. Then choose ‘Create new course’ at the top right. A small screen will appear where you can immediately name the new course.

Make sure the author tool is checked and click ‘Create’. You’ll now see a screen where you can enter general information about your course. You don’t post any information about content here yet. Go to the Data section. Here you will see the name of the course you have just entered. You can also upload an image, add an introductory video, select a language, course level and the required education level. You can enter the course duration, but you can also leave it blank. The system will then calculate this automatically. Enter the name of the person who will develop the course under 'Course Instructors'.

Next go to the heading ‘Description’. Here you enter a description of your course. The users will see the information you write down here before they start the course. So this is where you describe what your course is about and why users should take it. Under the heading objectives you write down the goals of the course, and say what users will have learned at the end of the course. Use bullet points for this.

The next heading ‘Certificates’ allows you to explain what you’d like to do with regards to the certificates of the online course.

Finally, you can indicate under 'Settings' if the course can be visible on your Academy. You can also indicate which category the course falls under and link search terms to the course by adding these terms to tags. The information, description and settings can be changed at a later time.

When this is set up you can start adding modules and topics to the online course.
