Automatic triggers – How do you apply an automatic trigger to existing employees?

Modified on Tue, 13 Jan at 3:03 PM

For some trigger actions, you can choose to apply the trigger to existing employees as well. In that case, the trigger is not only activated for new events, but also retroactively.

Which trigger actions support this?

  • Employee joins a team

  • Employee becomes an LMS manager

  • Additional employee information is updated

How does it work?

When activating the trigger or changing its criteria, you will be asked:

“Do you want to apply this trigger to existing employees as well?”

If you choose yes, the system automatically calculates how many employees this applies to.

All associated tasks are executed immediately, or—if the trigger includes a delay—scheduled based on the original date on which the event occurred.

Example

- An employee joined a team 6 months ago
- You set up a trigger with a delay of 9 months
- The trigger will be executed in 3 months

With this option, you can also include existing employees in your automations without the need for manual intervention.
