Which actions can you perform with certain permissions in the LMS?

There are various permissions that grant you access to the different modules in the LMS of your academy. In the Matrix Manager permissions in our Knowledge Academy, you will find a handy overview where you can see which rights grant access to which modules.

On the left side of the matrix, you will find an overview of the functionalities and modules. At the top, you will find all the LMS permissions that can be assigned. The crosses under the rights indicate which functionalities and/or modules you have access to in the LMS when these rights are assigned to you. There are also a few exceptions, these are indicated with asterisks.

In principle, the roles and permission structure in the LMS works according to a completely free format. This means that you can give each LMS manager a unique set of permissions. You can also use the rights to create roles. You then link these roles to an LMS manager, which then determines what this LMS manager can operate in the LMS.

Studytube also has a fixed set of 5 roles that are standard in the LMS when it is set up. These are the most commonly used roles that occur with all our customers. These are the following roles:

  • Admin - This is usually an LMS administrator for all modules. Also comparable to a system administrator.
  • Default manager group - This is a role group that is created when you want to make a user an LMS manager, without giving them any rights in the LMS.
  • External Author/Trainer - This is a role intended for external trainers. This role includes the rights to create and manage your own content in the LMS, without having access to the entire content library.
  • Internal Author/Trainer - This is for internal trainers or content managers. With this right, you can also manage the entire content library.
  • Team manager - This is for the standard Team lead or Team manager in the LMS. When you give someone the ability to view and manage a team in the LMS, you assign this role. It also gives access to the reports (of only the team being managed).
