Embedding External Content via an Iframe

Modified on Thu, 22 Jan at 12:58 PM

Would you like to embed content (such as videos, presentations, or interactive elements) from an external source into an online training? In most cases, you’ll use an iframe for this. Not all domains are allowed by default in Studytube. Want to add a new domain? Follow the steps below.

What is an iframe?

An iframe is a piece of HTML code that allows you to embed content from another website into a page within Studytube. For example:

<iframe src="//yourdomain.com/embed/content" width="100%" height="697" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Once added to a training, the external content becomes directly visible to the user.

My iframe isn’t working – why not?

This likely means that the domain you're trying to embed from hasn’t been approved within Studytube yet. We only allow iframes from a pre-approved list of trusted sources.

Examples of allowed domains:

  • vimeo.com

  • youtube.com

  • h5p.com

  • padlet.com

  • prezi.com

  • spotify.com

  • and many more

The full list is available upon request.

How do I request approval for a new domain?

Send an email to service@studytube.nl including:

  • An example of the iframe code you want to use

  • A short explanation of the content's purpose

  • Why this domain is important for your training

Please note:

  • We only accept domains that are safe (for example, no Google Drive, Dropbox, or other file hosting services).

  • Domains must be at least one year old and use a secure connection (https).

Our team will review your request and let you know if the domain can be added to the whitelist.
